Data-led European ski resort price comparison
Cheapest Ski Resorts in Europe 2026/27: 67 Large Resorts Compared
Where can you still book a genuinely affordable week in a large European ski area? We compared 67 resorts across six countries by ski pass, accommodation, food and drink—then calculated the same seven-night holiday budget for each one. The results contain several surprises.

Scope: this is a like-for-like comparison of 67 large ski areas with at least 100 km of pistes in France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Andorra, including several cross-border domains. It is not a list of every ski resort in Europe; smaller resorts in Eastern Europe, Scandinavia and elsewhere may cost less.
What does “cheapest ski resort” mean in this comparison?
It means the lowest comparable seven-night cost—not simply the cheapest lift ticket. We combine the four expenses that can be measured consistently for every resort.
The total excludes transport, ski hire, lessons, dinners, insurance and optional après-ski. It is designed to answer a practical search question—what does a week of skiing cost?—without pretending to be a complete door-to-door quote.
What are the 10 cheapest large ski resorts in Europe for 2026/27?
Orcières Merlette 1850 is cheapest at €612, followed by Isola 2000 at €615.80. Nine of the top ten are French; Bardonecchia in Italy breaks the run at number nine.
| # | Resort | Country | Pistes | 6-day pass | Budget room/night | Budget week |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Orcières Merlette 1850 | France | 100 km | €239 | €26.29 | €612 |

| 10 | Les Orres | France | 100 km | €239 | €53.79 | €801 |
France performs strongly because several purpose-built Southern Alps resorts combine comparatively low room rates with inexpensive six-day passes. That does not make the result “France only”: all eligible countries remain in the complete table, and the country-leader view below separates the strongest option for each market.

Which affordable ski resort represents each country best?
Orcières leads France, Bardonecchia leads Italy, Nassfeld leads Austria, Grimentz–Zinal leads Switzerland and Grandvalira leads Andorra. Oberstdorf–Kleinwalsertal is the lowest-cost option in the dataset with a German side.

These cards use the same weekly formula, so the differences are not distorted by comparing a pass-only price in one country with a package price in another. Cross-border areas appear under every country they genuinely serve.

Where are the cheapest ski pass prices in Europe?
Les 7 Laux has the lowest adult six-day ski pass at €168 and the lowest one-day pass at €42. The median six-day pass across all 67 resorts is €373.14.
| # | Resort | Country | 1 day | 6 days |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Les 7 Laux – Prapoutel/Le Pleynet/Pipay | France | €42 | €168 |
| 2 | Isola 2000 | France | €44 | €188.80 |
| 3 | Bardonecchia | Italy | €44 | €198 |
| 4 | SuperDévoluy & La Joue du Loup | France | €44 | €220 |
| 5 | Les Orres | France | €45.50 | €239 |
| 6 | Orcières Merlette 1850 | France | €46 | €239 |
A cheap pass is useful, but it does not always create the cheapest trip. Room rates explain why Orcières finishes ahead of Les 7 Laux in the complete budget. Check the exact product before buying: several operators use dynamic online prices, and the lowest rate may require advance purchase.

Which European ski resorts have the cheapest budget accommodation?
Orcières has the lowest budget accommodation benchmark at €26.29 per person per night. La Forêt Blanche is second at €33.36 and Isola 2000 third at €35.
| # | Resort | Country | Budget room/night | Budget week |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Orcières Merlette 1850 | France | €26.29 | €612 |
| 2 | La Forêt Blanche | France | €33.36 | €713.50 |
| 3 | Isola 2000 | France | €35 | €615.80 |
| 4 | Val Cenis Vanoise | France | €37.50 | €703 |
| 5 | Le Grand Massif | France | €38.36 | €818 |
| 6 | Le Grand Domaine | France | €40.07 | €751.90 |
The accommodation search used 25 January to 1 February 2027, with two adults sharing one room. Three relevant options were used where possible, and the middle price became the benchmark. Apartments, meal plans, cancellation conditions and remaining inventory can move real booking prices substantially.
Where can you find the cheapest four-star ski holiday?
Les 7 Laux also leads the four-star ranking at €735 for the example week. SuperDévoluy follows at €745, then Orcières at €925.
| # | Resort | Country | 4-star/night | 4-star week |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Les 7 Laux – Prapoutel/Le Pleynet/Pipay | France | €57.50 | €735 |
| 2 | SuperDévoluy & La Joue du Loup | France | €49 | €745 |
| 3 | Les Sybelles | France | €65.50 | €910.20 |
| 4 | Orcières Merlette 1850 | France | €71 | €925 |
| 5 | Val Cenis Vanoise | France | €79.21 | €995 |
| 6 | Pontedilegno - Tonale | Italy | €78.50 | €1,018.50 |
A four-star label does not guarantee ski-in/ski-out access. Where a small resort village lacked three suitable four-star choices, the research used explicitly classified hotels in the nearest sensible town or gateway. Always check the map, meals and transfer time before booking.
Which very large ski area offers the best value?
Via Lattea is the cheapest ski area with at least 300 km of published pistes: 400 km for a €851 budget week. Les Portes du Soleil follows at €921.30.
| # | Resort | Country | Pistes | 6-day pass | Budget week |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Via Lattea – Sestriere/Sauze d’Oulx/San Sicario/Claviere/Montgenèvre | Italy/France | 400 km | €305 | €851 |
| 2 | Les Portes du Soleil | France/Switzerland | 580 km | €276 | €921.30 |
| 3 | Tignes–Val d’Isère | France | 300 km | €468 | €1,122.50 |
| 4 | Les Trois Vallées | France | 600 km | €350 | €1,357.50 |
| 5 | Zermatt–Cervinia | Switzerland/Italy | 322 km | €410.56 | €1,548.62 |
| 6 | Paradiski (Les Arcs/La Plagne) | France | 425 km | €412 | €1,636 |
For linked domains above 300 km, the pass price uses the official product or sub-area closest to roughly 250 km when available, instead of automatically charging every skier for the largest network pass. The piste figure still shows the published size of the linked domain, so compare both columns together.

Where are beer and mountain lunch cheapest?
Grandvalira has the cheapest 0.5-litre beer at €5; SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser–Brixental has the cheapest mountain lunch at €11. SkiWelt also has the lowest combined beer-and-lunch benchmark at €16.80.

Which ski resorts have the cheapest beer?
| # | Resort | Country | 0.5 L beer |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Grandvalira | Andorra | €5 |
| 2 | Ischgl–Samnaun | Austria/Switzerland | €5.50 |
| 3 | 3 Länder Freizeit-Arena | Austria | €5.70 |
| 4 | SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser–Brixental | Austria | €5.80 |
| 5 | Ski Lungau | Austria | €5.80 |
Which ski resorts have the cheapest mountain lunch?
| # | Resort | Country | Mountain lunch |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser–Brixental | Austria | €11 |
| 2 | Via Lattea – Sestriere/Sauze d’Oulx/San Sicario/Claviere/Montgenèvre | Italy/France | €11.50 |
| 3 | Ski Arlberg | Austria | €11.80 |
| 4 | Les Sybelles | France | €14 |
| 5 | Grandvalira | Andorra | €14 |
Food and drink are smaller than the accommodation bill, but repeated daily spending adds up. The menu research used slope-side restaurants and the median of three comparable observations where possible; Via Lattea used two suitable menus.
Which ski resorts are most expensive in this comparison?
Val Gardena / Sella Ronda is the most expensive budget week at €2,448.50. Corviglia follows at €1,823.01, then Sölden at €1,744.10.
| # | Resort | Country | Budget room/night | Budget week | 4-star week |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Val Gardena / Sella Ronda | Italy | €263.50 | €2,448.50 | €2,956 |
| 2 | Corviglia | Switzerland | €176.50 | €1,823.01 | €3,633.01 |
| 3 | Sölden | Austria | €159.50 | €1,744.10 | €2,517.60 |
| 4 | Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis | Austria | €165.50 | €1,720.30 | €2,154.30 |
| 5 | Ischgl–Samnaun | Austria/Switzerland | €154.50 | €1,697 | €1,795 |
The gap between Orcières and Val Gardena is €1,836.50 per adult before transport, equipment or dinner. Price alone does not judge terrain, lift quality, snow reliability or village character; it shows how strongly destination and accommodation choice can change the same week.

How do all 67 large European ski resorts compare?
The median budget week is €1,057.40, while the average is €1,152.53. Nine resorts fall below €800, 27 below €1,000 and 41 below €1,200.

How were the 2026/27 ski holiday prices researched?
Every resort was priced with the same dates, party size and weekly formula. Lift tickets came from official resort pages; accommodation used comparable listings; beer and lunch came from on-mountain menus where available.
Which resorts were eligible?
All 67 entries in the BergMe dataset with at least 100 km of published pistes were included before price ranking. This threshold keeps the question focused on substantial week-long destinations. Published piste kilometres are not independently measured, and resort counting methods differ.
Which dates and travellers were used?
Accommodation covers 25 January to 1 February 2027 for two adults sharing one room. The one-day pass was checked for 28 January; the six-day pass for 26–31 January. Values are per adult and in euros.
How was a budget week calculated?
Six-day pass + 7 × (budget accommodation per person/night + one 0.5 L beer + one mountain lunch). The four-star total replaces only the room price.
How were Swiss prices converted?
Swiss-franc values in the workbook were converted at CHF 0.9353 per euro. Currency movements can therefore change the live euro comparison.
What are the limitations?
- Lift-pass prices can be dynamic and availability-dependent.
- Room prices change as inventory sells.
- Breakfast and cancellation terms are not identical.
- Travel, hire, lessons, dinner and insurance are excluded.
- The comparison measures price, not resort quality or suitability.
Which sources support the comparison?
The workbook records resort-level booking, menu and pass references; the principal pass sources are official operator pages. Data was compiled on 24 August 2026 and editorially reviewed on 7 September 2026.
