Cheapest Ski Resorts in France 2026/27: 24 Large Ski Areas Compared

Which large French ski resort is cheapest for a full week? Orcières Merlette 1850 leads this comparison at €612 per adult—but the most useful answer depends on whether you care most about accommodation, the ski pass or the amount of terrain.

Finding cheap skiing in France takes more than scanning lift-pass prices. Seven nights of accommodation can move the total by hundreds of euros, while food and drink add a smaller but still meaningful amount. We therefore compare the adult six-day pass, seven budget-accommodation nights, seven 0.5-litre beers and seven mountain lunches.

The result is a fair guide to the cheapest ski resorts in France for a full week. Every ski area has at least 100 km of pistes. The list includes 21 areas entirely in France and three linked areas that cross the French border.

What does “cheapest ski resort” mean here?

We rank the estimated cost of a full week, not just the lift pass. This matters because a cheap pass can easily be cancelled out by an expensive room.

How much does a one-week ski holiday in France cost?

The middle price in this comparison is €876.35 per adult, while the average is €931.56. Eighteen of the 24 large areas come in below €1,000 using the same formula.

The range is unusually wide: €612 at Orcières Merlette 1850 versus €1,636 at Paradiski. That €1,024 difference is driven mainly by accommodation, although pass and mountain-spending prices also matter.

What are the cheapest ski resorts in France?

Orcières Merlette 1850 is cheapest at €612, followed by Isola 2000 at €615.80 and SuperDévoluy–La Joue du Loup at €696.50.

Les 7 Laux has the cheapest adult six-day ski pass at €168, followed by Isola 2000 at €188.80 and SuperDévoluy at €220.

The middle six-day pass price is €298.95. Tignes–Val d’Isère is the most expensive at €468. For ski areas above 300 km, we use a smaller official pass where one is available. This keeps the comparison closer to the size of the other areas.

Where is cheap ski accommodation easiest to find?

Orcières Merlette has the lowest budget room price at €26.29 per person/night. La Forêt Blanche follows at €33.36, then Isola 2000 at €35.

Accommodation creates the biggest price gap. The middle room price is €56.18 per person/night, while Paradiski reaches €149.36. We checked the same dates and room setup everywhere, but these are not live booking quotes.

Which large French ski areas offer the best value?

For more than 200 km of pistes below €900, the standout choices are Espace Lumière, Le Grand Massif, Les Sybelles and Serre Chevalier.

This is a price-and-size shortlist, not a list of the “best” resorts. Piste kilometres tell you nothing about lift speed, snow, queues or the type of runs. We also leave out very large and cross-border areas when the pass does not cover the same number of kilometres shown for the full area.

Where are mountain food and beer cheapest?

Via Lattea has the cheapest beer and lunch in our sample, at €6 and €11.50. Among areas entirely in France, the cheapest beer is €7.50 and Les Sybelles has the cheapest lunch at €14.

Across all 24 areas, the middle price is €8 for a 0.5-litre beer and €18 for lunch. Seven of each add €182 to a typical week—less than the room or ski pass, but enough to change a close result.

Which four-star comparison totals are lowest?

Les 7 Laux and SuperDévoluy have the lowest four-star totals, but the hotels are outside the resorts.

Which French ski areas are most expensive?

Paradiski has the highest budget-week estimate at €1,636, followed by Megève/Saint-Gervais at €1,535 and Les Trois Vallées at €1,357.50.

These totals only show what the same sample week costs. They do not tell you which resort has the best snow, runs, lifts or village.

How did BergMe compare French ski resort prices?

Why these ski areas?

We included ski areas with at least 100 km of marked pistes. They must be in France or cross into France. Smaller local hills are left out because this guide is for people planning a full ski week.

Which dates were compared?

We checked rooms for 25 January–1 February 2027, with two adults sharing one room. The one-day pass date is 28 January 2027. The six-day pass covers 26–31 January.

How was accommodation compared?

For budget rooms, we used three suitable bookable options where possible and worked out the price per person per night. We removed known four- and five-star hotels from the budget group. If a small resort did not have enough local four-star hotels, we used clearly rated hotels in nearby towns and said so.

How were beer and lunch compared?

Where possible, we checked three restaurants on the mountain or at the base and used the middle price. Beer means exactly 0.5 litres. Lunch means a proper main dish, not a snack or starter. Via Lattea is the only area where we found two suitable restaurant menus instead of three.

How did we handle very large ski areas?

For linked areas above 300 km, we used an official smaller-area pass close to 200–300 km where possible. Les Trois Vallées therefore uses the Les Menuires–Saint-Martin pass, while Portes du Soleil uses Les Gets–Morzine. Paradiski uses the closest published pass we could find, and we mark this as a limitation.

How current are the prices?

We reviewed the data in August 2026. We used published 2026/27 prices where available. A few resorts had not released their final prices, so we used the latest clear price we could find and marked it in the research notes. Prices and room availability can still change.

Which sources support the comparison?

Lift-pass prices were checked against official resort or network sources, including Orcières Merlette, Isola 2000, Les 7 Laux, Val Cenis, Le Dévoluy, La Forêt Blanche, Le Grand Massif and Tignes–Val d’Isère.
